HVA 8th Annual Achievement Awards took place on Friday 11th June 2004 at the office of our sponsors Linklaters. There was a good turnout with over 100 attendees and both volunteers and organisations were acknowledged for their commitments and contributions to developing Hackney and making a difference in the community.
The evening was great, awesome, and fantastic; in short everybody enjoyed themselves. There was good food and lots of drinks for everyong. A special thank you goes out to Mr Richard White, a talented volunteer, who improved our experience by playing soft piano music during the evening.
Guest Speakers and Presenters were:

- James Cook - Former British and European Boxer
The following awards were presented:
§The ‘Volunteer of the Year Achievement Award’ to Kyu-June Shim - Hackney Independent Living Team.
§The ‘Older and Bolder Achievement Award’ to Pat Charnock – Kidstuff Clothing Project.
§The ‘Young, Gifted and Volunteering Achievement Award’ to Rosie Lee – Hackney Independent Living Team.
§The ‘Volunteer Programme of the Year Award’ to SKY Partnership.
§The ‘Sport Volunteer Achievement Award’ to Leroy Dobson – Hackney Sparrows Wheelchair Basketball club.
§The ‘Active Committee Award’ to Beeraahaar Sweet Combination.
§The ‘New Organisation Development Award’ to No! Nonsense Visual Arts Youth Project.
To all organisations that attended the event a big THANK YOU, for valuing yourselves and your volunteers and also for supporting HVA by filling in our questionnaire.
