Criminal Record checks for Standard and Enhanced Disclosures are for organisations which work with children, or vulnerable adults, provide health care, or some professions, (ie accountancy). They are only available to organisations who are registered with the CRB.
The employee or volunteer (person undergoing the check) and the registered organisation must apply jointly for a Standard Disclosure listing unspent and spent convictions and cautions. In some circumstances you may need to apply for an Enhance Disclosure which also lists police information (such as suspicions which did not lead to a caution or conviction)
