The Community Action Project

Building Economically Sustainable Communities…….

 

The Community Action Project aims to put in place a comprehensive capacity building programme to ensure that Voluntary and Community sector organisations and individuals in the Community Economic Development (CED) wards of Hackney, develop skills, knowledge and structures to improve the quality of life in the CED area.  The project is particularly interested in supporting young people, disabled and people from Black and Ethnic Minority and refugee backgrounds. 

 

The project will run for 2 years from June 2004 – June 2006.  HVA will provide personal development through assistance, advice, training and one-to-one support tailored to the needs of the individual assisted and their organisation.  The Project Coordinator will provide a one-stop support system for groups and source of information to individuals as well as monitoring the progress of participants. 

 

The aim:  to identify capacity needs of the individual and create individual action plans and guidance for development.  Advice and Assistance provided to participants in the project will include: 

 

-          Capacity building to develop your programmes

-          Help with constitutions and policies

-          Help to develop appropriate corporate structures

-          Fundraising Support

-          Recruiting more volunteers for your projects

-          Setting up a Volunteer Programme - Best Practice Advice

-          Providing Free Training (including HVA Training)

-          Networking - Putting you in touch with other groups

-          and many more benefits.….

 

 

The CED Wards

The 6 CED Wards in Hackney are:

Eastdown, Haggerston, Leabridge, Moorfields, Queensbridge, Westdown. 

 

The names of these wards were changed in Hackney in 2002 and roughly fit into the following wards – Dalston, Hackney Downs, Haggerston, Queensbridge, Leabridge.  To determine if you qualify for the project, click on the link below and insert your residential postcode in the relevant box.  Alternatively please contact HVA on 020 7241 4443 ext 30 to receive an immediate answer on qualification or email

This project is funded under The Objective 2 Programme which targets wards in 13 of the most disadvantaged boroughs and aims to tackle barriers to economic opportunity in areas suffering industrial decline, urban deprivation, low economic activity and social exclusion.
