Organisation Development training are courses aimed at developing the staff, structure and aims of your organisation. Topics can range from setting up voluntary and community groups to health and safety law and to training for the management committee.

Developing Multi-Ethnic Partnerships
HVA have organised a one day training workshop in collaboration with BASSAC and BTEG aimed at management committee members and trustees, directors and project managers of voluntary organisations. Initiatives that involve a collaboration of 2 or more organisations are fast becoming the norm. This course is aimed at large organisations that wish to work with smaller multi-ethnic and minority groups and the small groups that may wish to partner with larger organisations. It is a networking opportunity.

Registering as a Charity
This course is very important for groups / organisations thinking of registering as a charity or those who want to know if they need to register. It can also be attended as a refresher for those wishing to understand what their status as a charity means for their organisation and for their management committee.
Topics will include:

Definition of a charity and its advantages and disadvantages

When the obligation to register applies

Explanation of Charitable purposes

Responsibilities and Liabilities of Charitable Trustees and who they are
The last part of the course will involve step-by-step completing of the Registration form, how to apply, what happens to the application and what happens after registration
Management Committee Training
The course aims to help understand the basic role played by a management committee in an organisation and to identify the key processes involved in running an effective committee meeting. By the end of the session you will understand:

how to put together an agenda and hold a management committee meeting

the different roles that people play in a committee meeting ie chair, secretary

Emergency Life Support (ELS)Training
Heartstart
UK, an initiative of the British Heart Foundation will be holding Emergency Life Support training for groups and community organisations in hackney to teach members of the public what to do in a life-threatening emergency. The training will give you an understanding of what to do to keep someone alive in an emergency until professionals help arrives.
Heart disease is the UK’s biggest killer. Every 2 minutes someone in the UK has a heart attack. In about 30% of heart attacks the patient dies before reaching hospital. The program content focuses on the practical ELS skills needed in a life-threatening emergency. It is designed to provide the public with maximum time for hands-on –practice with resuscitation training manikins.
Certificate of attendance will be given to participants.
Inland Revenue Training: Starting a Limited Company
The Inland Revenue will provide training on how to set up a company limited by guarantee and the parties involved in the running and regulation of the Company in England and Wales. You will also look at the obligations companies have to Companies House and the Inland Revenue and how they can also assist you. Other topics include obligations to Customs and Excise as well as related electronic business
Inland Revenue Training: Paying Expenses & Giving Benefits to your Employees
The Inland Revenue will be providing training on procedure for organisations recruiting staff. The course will look at the responsibilities of an employer, what to do when an employee leaves, taking on employees with or without a P45 and paying the Inland Revenue.
Inland Revenue: Statutory Pay & Leave for Maternity, Paternity & Adoption
The Inland Revenue will provide training on the Statutory, Maternity and Paternity Pay. This will be an introduction to these staff benefits. There will also be an introduction to Adoption Pay. You will look at the statutory qualifying conditions for these benefits and the Payment and recovery of them. Useful for all organisations that recruit staff.
