Hackney Voluntary Sector Grants Programme 2007-2008
As part of Hackney Council’s vision and community strategies to improve the borough, the council supports a range of community and voluntary sector schemes. The Association of London Government, on behalf of the London Borough of Hackney’s Voluntary Sector Grants programme invites applications for funding to provide:
•Priority 1 - Advice and information services
•Priority 2 - “Supporting People” and “Well Old Well Valued” schemes
•Priority 3 - Environmental schemes
•Priority 4 – Children and Young people schemes
Applications for Arts and Cultural activities will be considered where they contribute to one of the above objectives.

Eligible organisations will be based in Hackney and clearly show benefits to Hackney communities. Applications must include links to appropriate Council strategies. Copies of these documents are available at www.hackney.gov.uk. The closing date for the receipt of completed application forms is 21 September 2006.
Cllr Nargis Khan, the Council Cabinet Member responsible for the programme, said: “One of Hackney’s key strengths is its vibrant and independent community and voluntary sector. Through the Hackney Voluntary Sector Grants Programme we support the organisations working to make a difference to the lives of Hackneys residents. This year priority areas for funding include advice and information services, supporting older people and people with special needs.
Applications are invited for schemes that provide Hackney residents with:

Advice and information services including welfare benefits, legal advice, debt counselling, and translation and interpreting services

Complement the Council’s “Supporting People” and “Well Old Well Valued” programmes and offer innovative projects that enable people of all ages to access accommodation, achieve permanence and a better quality of life

Improve the environment in Hackney including education schemes, recycling, volunteering, improving community spaces and community transport and support the council’s Community Safety Strategy

Youth and play schemes that support the Council’s Children and young people Strategy and present new opportunities for excluded and disadvantaged young people involving them in democracy and decision making while encouraging them to lead healthy lifestyles and be active citizens

Schemes that aim to enable voluntary and community organisations increase capacity to contribute to the improvement of the borough and the well being of the community.

Arts and cultural activities that meet the council’s aims of increasing social inclusion and improving the borough
Hackney Council also welcomes bids for the Small Grants Programme 2007-2008 for new schemes up to £5,000.
